Army Veteran Tom Mischke, Heron Lake, was chosen to raise the flag at the beginning of the Minnesota Twins game held on Tuesday evening, August 9th.
When the Twins moved to Target Field in 2010, they wanted to recognize military personnel on a larger scale so the Twins Flag Raiser Program was created. Prior to each Twins home game, a veteran or current soldier is honored in that they receive recognition for their accomplishments and sacrifices. The person chosen to be the flag raiser at that Twins home game, is then given the opportunity to raise the American Flag to the top of the flagpole while the National Anthem is being sung.
