We spent a long weekend at a cabin belonging to relatives near Brandon, MN, on Whiskey Lake. Fishing was great, mostly at Sunfish Lake, but we did get a lot of bass, crappie and sunfish. There was that weather thing going on but it was very enjoyable time. We had some rain but nothing serious enough to ruin a good time. Yes, there was a few drinks, plenty of really good food and a fair amount of stories. It was over too soon as is the summer that seems to have quickly evaporated at a fast rate.

The gardens are producing well in the area, even my attempts at horticulture have been working well and it has given us a lot of fresh vegetables for our efforts. Day and night we were eating tomatoes while picking green beans. What we are missing, we get at the farmers market where the more talented gardeners sell their surplus. You can also get some very good baked goods.

There will be a little rain Wednesday and Thursday and then some very mild weather with temps in the 70’s and 80’s that will make a few projects a little more bearable. Enjoy the time.

Speaking of time,we have less than three and a half months of politics at its finest. It’s a good time to watch the Discovery Channel or the Home and Garden Channel on TV. It’s looking like the Democrats are having as much fun at there convention as the Republicans did last week. We can vote for the last man standing
