James Garoutte	James “Jim” Harold Garoutte, age 80, of Biscay, Minnesota, passed away Wednesday, August 15, 2012, at North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale, Minnesota.

James “Jim” Harold Garoutte, age 80, of Biscay, Minnesota, passed away Wednesday, August 15, 2012, at North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale, Minnesota. James Harold Garoutte was born on October 26, 1931, in Heron Lake, Minnesota. He was the son of Harold and Lena (Kuhnau) Garoutte. Jim was baptized as an infant, and later confirmed in his faith as a youth both at the Methodist Church in Heron Lake. He received his education in Heron Lake and was a graduate of the Heron Lake High School Class of 1950. Jim entered active military service in the United States Navy on August 17, 1951, and served his country during the Korean War. He received an Honorable Discharge on August 12, 1955. After discharged from the Navy, Jim attended the School of Aeronautic in Oklahoma and received his AED license. On April 20, 1963, Jim was united in marriage to Mary Elder, at Brownton Methodist Church in Brownton, Minnesota. This marriage was blessed with five children, Sherri, Christine, Genise, Jenifer and Cory. Jim and Mary resided in Biscay, Minnesota for 49 years. They shared 49 years of marriage. Jim was employed at the 3M Company in Hutchinson, Minnesota in the Maintenance Department for 31 years. He retired in December 1990. Jim was a member of St. Johns Church in Hassan Valley Township, McLeod County, Minnesota. He was also a member of the McLeod Master Gardener Club, Hutchinson American Legion Post #96, the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) in Glencoe, Minnesota and belonged to the Good Sam's Club. Jim enjoyed woodworking and camping. He was a master gardener and loved the outdoors. Jim and Mary traveled across the United States. Jim liked music, singing, eating good food and making homemade noodles. Jim especially cherished the time he spent with his family and friends. Jim passed away Wednesday, August 15, 2012, at North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale, Minnesota, at the age of 80 years. Blessed be his memory. Jim is survived by his: Wife, Mary Garoutte of Biscay, MN; Children, Sherri Olson and her husband, Klinton of Willmar, MN, Christine Pospishil and her husband, Scott of Yankton, SD, Genise Schuette and her husband, Scott of Bemidji, MN, Jenifer O'Donnell and her husband, Brad of Mankato, MN, Cory Garoutte and his wife, Brenda of rural Glencoe, MN; Grandchildren, Sondra Yuen and her husband, Siu, Amanda Herberg and her husband, John, Chloe Bendickson, Haddie Koshenina, Carrie Pospishil, Cassie Pospishil, Callie Pospishil, Tyler Quast and his wife, Melissa, Brandyn Quast and his wife, Karisa, Caitlyn Quast, Madelyn Schuette, Hayden Schuette, Kelsey O'Donnell, Elizabeth O'Donnell, Amber O'Donnell, Desiree Strassburg, Danielle Strassburg, Adam Garoutte, Grace Garoutte; Great Grandchildren, Haley Yuen, Breden Yuen, Damien Herberg, Danika Quast, Cameryn Quast; Brother, Dean Garoutte and his wife, Delores of Heron Lake, MN; Sisters, Betty Hadden and her husband, Gary of St. Cloud, MN, Bonnie Morehart and her husband, Gary of Alexandria, MN, Ruth Barsness and her husband, Julian of Alexandria, MN; Sisters-In-Law, Martha Miller and her husband, Bob of St. James, MN, Merle Laird of Mankato, MN, Charlotte Hardel of Arlington, MN; Brothers-In-Law, Harold Elder and his wife, Peggy of Hutchinson, MN, Lesley Elder of Hutchinson, MN, David Elder and his wife, Val of Hutchinson, MN, Rusty Elder and his wife, Lisa of Mankato, MN, DuWayne Ridjl of Villard, MN; Nieces, Nephews and many other relatives and friends. Jim is preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Lena Garoutte; Infant Brother, Glen Garoutte; Sister, Lorene Ridjl; Granddaughter, Brea O'Donnell; Brothers-In-Law, Bob Laird, Herman Hardel, Elmer Klaphake; Sisters-In-Law, Linda Elder, Sandy Elder.
