The general election is scheduled for Tuesday, November 6, 2012.At that election, many local offices will be filled, in addition to the Presidency and state offices.
In city elections, generally two council members and the mayor are up for election.
The following have filed for the seats that will be up for election in November:
City of Brewster: Mayor: Randy Schmitz; City Council (elect two): Mel Tennessen and John Garmer.
City of Heron Lake: Two filed for the Mayoral position: Dan Shumway (incumbent) and Jason Freking. Filing for the two City Council seats (four year terms) are: Glenn Kuhnau (incumbent), John Hay (incumbent) and Wayne Rasche.
City of Okabena: Les Ruthenbeck (incumbent) filed for Mayor. For City Council, two positions will need to be filled. Those filing for the four year terms are Dennis Damm (incumbent), LeAnn Warner and Joshua Zuehlke.
City of Round Lake: Mayor Douglas Knuth and Walon Lee Habben. City Council members (two positions) Dennis Bucholz (incumbent), Nancy Fields and Gary Larson. Incumbent Mayor Keith Stubbe did not file for re-election to the mayoral seat, as he is running for a Nobles County Commissioner seat.
School Board members will also be elected for terms of four years each. Positions will be elected at each of the area school districts, Brewster, Round Lake and Southwest Star Concept.
