Erma Hurley, 87, of Le Center, died at Immanuel St. Joseph Hospital in Mankato on Wednesday, August 1, 2012.
Erma Hurley, 87, of Le Center, died at Immanuel St. Joseph Hospital in Mankato on Wednesday, August 1, 2012. Visitation was held at United Methodist Church in Le Center on Friday, August 3, 2012 with American Legion Auxiliary service. Funeral services were also held at United Methodist Church, Le Center, on Friday, August 3, at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at Heron Lake. Erma was born in Bingham Lake on September 17, 1924 to George and Lilly (Heitkamp) Kirkman. She graduated from String Lake High School in Windom. She married Fermon Hurley on November 7, 1940 at the Methodist Church in Windom, Fermon died February 3, 1971. She worked at Campbell's Soup and as a cook until her retirement in 1990 when she moved to Le Center. She was a member of Pioneer Power, Lioness Club, American Legion and VFW Auxiliary, Le Center Senior Card Club and Cleveland Senior Card Club. She loved flower gardening and playing cards. Erma is survived by daughters: Wanda Arndt of Cleveland, Peggy (and Bo) Baggett of Nevada, Missouri and Pattie (and Rich) Altman of Brewster; son Ronald (and Cathy) Hurley of Haysville, Kansas; 10 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren, sisters: Alice (and Archie) Schuknacht, step-sister, Darlene Scott; and brother: Leslie (and Evelyn) Kirkman. Erma is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, sons Fermon Jr., and Michael; brother Loren and his wife Dorothy Kirkman and sister and brother-in-law Martha (And Fred) Mohlenkamp.
