As the hype for the Jackson County Fair starts escalating, Aaron and Isaac Fest are preparing their animals and projects to show at the fair.
The Fest boys have 14 animals to show which includes: 4 yearling sheep, 1 yearling goat, 4 lambs, 1 whether (male castrated goat), and 4 does (female baby goats under 1 year of age that have not given birth).
These animals are all kept on their property in a pen. The boys have to get up in the morning to give them food and water, and also set their legs (they position the legs of the animal in the proper stance in which they will be shown).
Aaron has also been busy with a global connections project, which also happens to be his club project. Isaac also has a general project, which is a corn sample.
Both Aaron and Isaac have been 4-H for 10 years. “My parents were in it, and we were raised to be involved with it too,” explains Aaron. He stresses what showing at the fair can teach a person. “Its leadership, and being responsible in order to take care of the animals and making sure your projects are done.”
