Okabena Legion ends regular season with a victory.
Okabena Legion ends regular season with a victory Justin Jass strikes out 13 in five innings to lead Okabena to a 8-2 victory Okabena would end its regular season on a eight game winning streak by beating Slayton last Tuesday evening in Slayton 8-2. The victory now improves Okabena's' record to 10-5 on the season heading into the playoffs and earned the #3 seed for the sub- district tournament. Justin Jass was nearly perfect on the mound for Post #608 as he would hurl five innings allowing no runs, two hits, and striking out 13 of the total 18 batters he faced. Luke Henkels and Alex Meyer would also combine for six strikeouts in two innings of work. Jacob Olson also saw some time on the mound for Okabena. Offensively, Okabena would record hits from six different people throughout the line-up. Meyer (double) and Aaron Fest (single) each had two RBI to lead the attack. Jacob Olson ripped a double and Kyle Elder, Erik Jass, and Luke Henkels (RBI) each had singles. R H E Okabena 231 200 0 — 8 6 1 Slayton 000 002 0 — 2 4 2 Okabena Legion opens up the Sub-District tournament with a victory Giving the #3 seed for the tournament, Okabena opened up the tournament hosting #6 Seed and would hold on to a 4-3 victory. Extending from the regular season Okabena has now won nine straight games and have an overall record of 11-5. Okabena jumped out to a quick 4-0 victory over the first two innings. Luke Henkels started things off for Okabena in the home half of the first with a single, Erik Jass would then reach on a fielders choice that retired Henkels at second. Alex Meyer kept things going with a single of his own followed up by a RBI groundout off the bat of Kyle Elder that would score Jass. Justin Jass would then come to the plate and belt a RBI double over the left fielders head that scored Meyer. Mark Ferguson would continue the rally with an RBI single of his own that plated J. Jass from second. Okabena tacked on one more in the second as henkels hit a ball down the right field line that got by the diving fielder which would allow Henkels to race all around the bases for an inside-the-park homerun.
