Blood donors encouraged to live life, give life, this summer with the American Red Cross

July 3, 2012

Blood donations often decline during the summer while the need for blood remains constant.
Blood donations often decline during the summer while the need for blood remains constant. Approximately every two seconds a patient in the United States needs a blood transfusion. This summer, the Red Cross has introduced the Live Life. Give Life promotion as a special way to thank those who make time to give blood during the summer months. As your summer calendar fills with family vacations and fun summer activities, please remember how much patients need you. Give someone the gift of life by donating blood or platelets with the American Red Cross. Live Life. Give Life. is designed to raise awareness of the need for summer blood donors and to encourage frequent American Red Cross donations. All presenting donors between May 21 and September 5, 2012 will have a chance to win a prize certificate package redeemable at GiftCertificates.com each time they visit the Red Cross. Presenting donors during the Memorial Day, Independence Day and Labor Day time frames are eligible for additional fun summer prizes! Opportunities to donate at Heron Lake and Round Lake Heron Lake blood drive on Wednesday, July 11, 2012, from 1:00-7:00 p.m., at the Community Center in Heron Lake.
