The Heron Lake Lakers went 1-2 over the past week, splitting a home doubleheader Sunday after dropping a Wednesday night game at Jackson.
Heron Lake, which is now 7-8 overall and 7-5 in league play, travels to Milroy Saturday and is at both Windom and Worthington Sunday.
The Lakers will also host their annual Alumni Game on Tuesday, July 3. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m., and all former players are invited to attend.
Also upcoming for the Lakers is a hog-roast fundraiser on Saturday, July 7. Look for more details in next week’s edition of the Tri County News.

Heron Lake 6
An eight-hit, nine-run output in the top of the fourth inning sparked the Worthington Cubs to a 9-6 victory over the Heron Lake Lakers in a First Nite League amateur baseball game Sunday evening at Laker Field.
Heron Lake took a 1-0 lead after Ben Scheevel (2-for-4) tripled and scored on an RBI sacrifice fly by Thomas Albrecht in the second inning.
But the Cubs, who cracked four hits without scoring through the first three frames, strung together a big rally in the fourth --- sending 13 batters to the plate and scoring all nine of their runs to build a 9-1 advantage.
Heron Lake rallied with five runs in the bottom of the seventh to close the gap to 9-6. Ethan Duffy (3-for-4, two doubles) and Scheevel cracked back-to-back two-run singles, while Kirk McBreen delivered an RBI single, as well.
