As part of the Heron Lake Public Library's summer reading project, “Dream Big: READ,” Robert Halbrook hosted a magic show Thursday, June 21, where he became Professor Marvel, showing off his amazing inventions. The kids (and adults) were delighted to see the whacky and imaginative machines that Professor Marvel had to show them. He had a recombobulator, a popinator, a kitchen magician, a magic brown bag, and a trash-o-matic as well as some magic potting (not potty) soil. With each invention, Professor Marvel introduced a book which would spark the creativity and imagination in the children. These books included: The Diary of a Wimpy Kid, The Series of Unfortunate Events, New Junior Cook Book, and The Invention of Hugo Cabret.
