Changes announced for SSC

Several changes are being planned for the 2012-13 school year at Southwest Star Concept High School. Staff and scheduling changes will occur at the high school.
Several changes are being planned for the 2012-13 school year at Southwest Star Concept High School. Staff and scheduling changes will occur at the high school. In addition, the before-school conferences (both at the elementary and at the high school) will take on a new format in August. Superintendent Ann Wendorff explained that the school board and administration have continued “to look at ways to improve student learning.” During the last school year, the school developed Professional Learning Communities among the staff. “Our goal is to learn and grow as a staff, both individually and together,” Wendorff said. “Our hope is that student learning is enhanced.” With that in mind, the following changes will be made for the 2012-13 school year. Scheduling In hopes to increase student achievement, administration and staff have decided to change from the previous four-block day system to a five-block per day system. A committee was formed with administration and staff to look at possible different schedules.
