The Heron Lake and Fulda Ambulance Services, Cottonwood County Sheriff’s Office and the Minnesota State Patrol responded to a three-vehicle accident north of Heron Lake on Monday morning, July 19.
The accident occurred at the Cottonwood County #5 and Minnesota Highway 62 shortly after 9:00 a.m. The first vehicle, a 1999 Chevrolet pickup driven by Richard A. Ourada, 64, of Walnut Grove, was northbound on #5, failed to yield at the stop sign and hit the second vehicle traveling westbound on Highway 62. Vehicle number two was a 2005 Chevrolet Impala, driven by Alice P. Shriver, 75, of Truman.
The vehicles were pushed into the third vehicle, a 2006 International semi driven by Gary D. Karstens, 51, of Mankato. The semi was stopped at the stop sign traveling south on #5.
The drivers of the pickup and semi received no apparent injuries. Shriver, and a passenger in her vehicle, Gentius L. Shriver, 80, also of Truman, were reported with non-life threatening injuries.
